Kill Your Inner Boy/Making the Decision to Become a Man

Anthropology of Man

offnature

In offnature artists Deborah Hazler, Nanina Kotlowski and Olivia Schellander follow the trails of the grotesque body. Based on the media’s sexualisation of the human body, where there’s often a very thin line between disgust and desire, the performers guide the audience through a perceptual house of mirrors which opens up a multitude of new perspectives on the body. They explore the (im)possibility of independently representing certain parts of it and disconnecting them from their sexual connotations. They aspire to enable the audience to find a direct way of viewing the body rather than emphasising the sensational display of such. An intimate spectacle working on its de-sexualisation and around the question of whether it can ever be free from desire and revulsion.
